B&H Offers Huge Discount on the Canon 5DS R: Still One of the Best Cameras for Architectural Photographers

In a previous article, I discussed why I think the Canon 5DS R is still the best camera for architectural photographers. This mostly came down to aspects relating to usability and the fact that image quality from this camera is still incredible. B&H are now offering a HUGE discount making this camera far more accessible.

B&H are currently offering the Canon 5DS R for less than $1,500 which I think is incredible value for money. This full-frame, 50mp camera still offers some of the best image quality currently available. Many architectural photographers tend to shoot on a tripod, therefore issues relating to dynamic range or low light performance is pretty much moot.

B&H is also offering the Canon 5DS for $1,299 making it a potentially better option. The difference between the two cameras is that the low pass filter in the 5DS R is switched off. This means that the 5DS R will produce images that are slightly sharper at the cost of potential issues relating to moire.

In my experience, moire has never been a problem with the 5DS R having said that, the difference in detail between both cameras is negligible. You’d probably be better off saving a little money by going for the 5DS instead.

Personally, the Canon 5DS R continues to be my main camera for most of the projects that I shoot. It’s such a good camera that I see absolutely no reason to upgrade; even if it is a little long in tooth.
